A great human being, forgotten, and almost erased in the minds of our time. Nikola Tesla (Serbian Cyrillic: Никола Тесла) (10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943) was an inventor and a mechanical and electrical engineer. Born in Smiljan, Croatia, (then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire), he was an ethnic Serb subject of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and later became an American citizen.[2] Tesla is often described as the most important scientist and inventor of the modern age, a man who "shed light over the face of Earth".[3] He is best known for many revolutionary contributions in the field of electricity and magnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tesla's patents and theoretical work formed the basis of modern alternating current electric power (AC) systems, including the polyphase power distribution systems and the AC motor, with which he helped usher in the Second Industrial Revolution. Contemporary biographers of Tesla have regarded him as "The Father of Physics", "The man who invented the twentieth century"[4] and "the patron saint of modern electricity." c/o wikipedia... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_teslavids pt.1 www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTiiblwwLPkpt.2 www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXfWbEiTLII&feature=relatedpt.3 www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgkeP0CappUpt.4 www.youtube.com/watch?v=lExTqblIH_8

People also claim he developed wireless power transmission methods. This means a cellphone can be used without a battery if there's a power transmission source nearby.
Why didn't it get popular? Well, this also means oil would have become a much less important resource. If transmission sources were built into our roads, we wouldn't need gasoline to run our sexy beemers and jags.
